pavelcode.com is operated by Pavel Ufimtsev. This page describes the personal information processed through the website and through the inquiries I receive.
1. Who is responsible
Pavel Ufimtsev is responsible for the personal information described on this page.
Privacy contact: pavel@pavelcode.com
2. Information processed
Inquiry information. The site has no contact form. Its contact links open your own email app. When you email me, I receive your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to include in your message and in later correspondence.
Server and security information. When your browser requests a page, the web server receives your IP address, the address of the page requested, the date and time, the referring page if your browser sends one, and the browser and device details your browser sends. The server records these in its access and error logs.
Preference storage. If you use the light/dark switch, your choice is saved in your browser. Details are in section 5.
Analytics and advertising. The site does not use analytics, advertising scripts, or tracking pixels. It does not load scripts, fonts, or embedded content from other companies' servers.
Affiliate links. Some articles contain affiliate links. Section 6 explains what happens when you open one.
3. Why information is used
- Responding to inquiries. I use inquiry information to read and answer your message.
- Discussing and delivering agreed work. If we go on to work together, I use our correspondence to scope and carry out that work.
- Operating and securing the website. Server and security information is used to deliver pages, find and fix errors, and detect and block misuse.
- Remembering your theme. The saved light/dark choice is used only to show the site in that theme on your next visit.
Where the law that applies to you requires a legal basis for processing, these are the ones I rely on:
- Inquiries and agreed work: taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement, and then performing that agreement.
- Operating and securing the website: my legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure.
- Theme preference: it is stored only when you ask for it by using the switch.
Visiting the site is not treated as consent to anything.
4. Service providers and recipients
Two kinds of provider handle information on my behalf:
- Website hosting. The hosting provider runs the server that delivers this site and stores its logs.
- Email. The email provider delivers and stores messages sent to and from pavel@pavelcode.com.
External websites are different. This site links to other sites, such as LinkedIn, project websites, and the tools discussed in articles. Opening one is your choice. Those sites are not my service providers, and they handle your information under their own policies.
5. Cookies and similar storage
pavelcode.com does not set cookies. It uses one item of browser local storage:
- Item:
theme, in local storage. - Provider: pavelcode.com itself. No other company is involved.
- Purpose: remembering the light or dark theme you chose.
- Information stored: the word "light" or "dark".
- Duration: until you clear this site's data in your browser.
- Essential or optional: optional. It is created only when you use the theme switch, and the site works without it.
Local storage stays in your browser. It is not sent to the server with page requests.
Because the site uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies, there is no cookie banner.
6. Affiliate links
Affiliate links on this site are ordinary links to another company's website. The link's address contains an identifier that tells that company the visit came from pavelcode.com, so that a qualifying purchase can be attributed to this site.
pavelcode.com does not load affiliate tracking scripts or pixels. Nothing is sent to the other company unless you open the link.
Once you open an affiliate link, the destination site applies its own privacy and cookie practices, which may include setting cookies to remember the referral.
7. Retention
- Inquiry correspondence is kept for as long as it is needed to answer you and, if we work together, as a record of what was discussed and agreed.
- Server and security logs are kept for a limited period for troubleshooting and security, and are then deleted.
- Analytics records do not exist, because the site has no analytics.
- Client and accounting records from agreed work are kept for as long as the agreement and legal record-keeping requirements call for.
- The theme preference stays in your browser until you clear it.
8. International processing
I am based in Georgia, and inquiries are read and handled there. The hosting and email providers may store and process information on servers in other countries.
9. Privacy rights
Depending on the law that applies to you and on the processing involved, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information I hold about you;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- object to its use, or ask for its use to be restricted;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent.
To make a request, email pavel@pavelcode.com. I may need to confirm your identity before acting on it.
You may also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in the place where you live or work.
10. Security
I take reasonable measures to protect the information described here, such as limiting who has access to the server and the mailbox and keeping the site's software up to date. No website or email service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
